A Tapestry is a woven work of textile art. A Tapestry can be a great way to add beautiful visuals and warmth to your interior design projects. In this blog we will describe how to hang a Tapestry onto a stone wall.
First thing we did for this project was to inspect the tapestry in order to take measurements of it’s size and determine the best hanging solution. This particular tapestry has small hanging rods sewn into the top and it’s about ten feet wide. The metal hanging rods on the tapestry are evenly-spaced every twelve inches. We are hanging the tapestry on a granite stone wall and the masonry on the granite wall is very uneven.
How do we install evenly-spaced hanging rods on unevenly-spaced masonry? The best method for installation is to attach a wood furring strip (1″ x 3″ x 10′) to the wall. The long and flat surface of the furring strip is perfect for hanging the tapestry on the uneven masonry of the wall. We use masonry anchors to attach the wood furring to the stone wall and then we hang the tapestry with hardware attached to the wood furring.
Now we have a classic and elegant looking solution for hanging a tapestry on a stone wall.
